About us

We are an artisan fashion brand on a mission to modernize the art of smocking for the 21st century child and women.

With our exciting colour palettes and fabrics, feminist spirit and ethical approach to each items craftsmanship, we breathe a new life into this hand-stitched craft.

Every Liberty Fields piece is individually hand-sewn by our incredible team, from local informal communities of KZN. Hand-smocking is a skill which takes time, and each dress takes over a week to complete.

Our items take time to be produced, using the highest quality threads and fabrics, in small limited editions and conceived to be passed down through generations.

Committed to sustainability and ethical practices, we take pride in ensuring that our production processes minimize environmental impact. From always trying to responsibly sourced materials where possible to fair wages for our artisans, we strive to create not only unique, heirloom-quality pieces but also a positive impact on the planet and the lives of our makers and their families. The result is sustainable fashion that supports both the present and the future.

The result is unique, heirloom quality pieces, that support the makers and their families.

  • COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND EMPOWERMENT

We have a team of incredible men and women who hand smock every garment with the utmost love and care.

We strive to build capacity in our team through training and knowledge sharing, by smocking professionals from around KZN.

This incredible team is the back bone of Liberty Fields and add immense value to our brand.

Our team members live in the local informal communities of Durban, KZN.

Thank you for supporting our small business, talented smockists, seamstresses and their families.

  • SUPPORTING THE ELDERLY

Liberty Fields proudly supports an elderly community in Eshowe, Zululand.

Each of the knitted and crocheted items are made by the most incredible grannies and great grannies who have perfected the art and have a passion and love for each and every piece they make.

Each item sold, goes towards supporting these ladies livelihoods.

Additionally, the money made from the sale of each item goes towards buying wool to make more items for the old age home in Nkandla, and premature babies at the local hospital.

The Owner

Hi! My names Paige.

Im a wife, daughter, sister and friend! But most importantly to me, a mother! Oh there is nothing like it, and we experience it all so differently!! It’s hard, challenging, frustrating, so many unknowns and questions but the most incredible phenomenon at the same time! A love like no other, a feeling like your heart is sitting outside you body!!

So why LF! The idea was there long before becoming a mom, but the drive for creating LF came after having my daughter, and I’m sure from some chemical imbalance in my brain after pregnancy and birth and mother hood.

I’m actually an environmental and social scientist full time. Yeah… I know what you thinking… why would I want to do this too!! The time, energy and drive??? I LOVE BEING BUSY!!! But I have always been a creative in what I do, while helping people and communities everyday of my life, it is what I love!

So the combination just seemed right - making incredible smocking dresses, my team from the local communities - supporting them and their families and putting a smile on little peoples faces.

So to put it in short! My Life is chaos, a beautiful chaos, a balance like no other! Which I know we are ALL dealing with in our own way!

I looking forward to meeting you all along this journey and you getting to know me and us.

A big THANK YOU to all the support so far! Every like, share, comment, message and order is changing lives of the most incredible team that mean the world to me!! Over the next few weeks I will be introducing you to the rest of the LF team.

PS. Im a total animal lover!
